On the morning of August 10, Jiandong Li, Dean of the USST School of Continuing Studies, and Baoquan Meng, Director of the Alumni Relations Office visited the Business School and held meetings with Laijun Zhao, Dean of the Business School, and Wei Wang, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School. The two parties exchanged views on the steps to creating EDP, the challenges of providing EDP training, and issues related to the cooperation with Zhongbo Fund, among other matters. Jianjun Zheng, Director of Non-Degree Programs, Yuhui Ge, Executive Director of the School’s EDP, and Baoming Zhang, Director of the EDP General Office, also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, Laijun Zhao first extended a warm welcome to all the attendees. Dean Zhao introduced the purpose of establishing EDP and the work that had been done since its establishment. He expressed the hope that all parties could make better use of their respective advantages, cooperate with each other, and join hands in providing excellent EDP training so as to improve the brand of the School, strengthen social connections and pass EQUIS certification in the future. Wei Wang hopes to work with the School of Continuing Education to expand and strengthen the brand of the Business School as well as the EDP training.
Jiandong Li expressed his thankfulness and approval of the words of former speakers, and said that he would fully support the work of the Business School and EDP in the future. Afterwards, he introduced to everyone how policies regarding non-degree programs were formulated, the process of creating classes for non-degree programs, and approaches to financial budgeting before patiently answering Mr. Ge’s questions in detail. Next, Baoming Zhang asked questions about the specific issues encountered in the process of providing EDP training, such as how to fill out budget and declaration forms, signing school contracts, the different processes of running independent and cooperative programs. Jianjun Zheng also answered Zhang’s questions one by one in detail.
After the discussions, all attendees had a clear picture about the relevant procedures of non-degree programs and obtained answers to EDP-related questions.
Afterwards, Laijun Zhao and Wei Wang received Baoquan Meng, Director of the Alumni Relations Office and Secretary-General of USST Education Development Foundation, and discussed issues regarding alumni liaison and cooperation with Zhongbo Fund. Laijun Zhao hopes to make full use of the resources of USST alumni by utilizing the intellectual, financial, information, cultural and social influence of the alumni to better serve the brand building strategy of the Business School. Wei Wang expressed that she is willing to work with the Alumni Relations Office and the Education Development Foundation to jointly explore alumni resources and enhance the influence of USST and the Business School.
Baoquan Meng briefly introduced the achievements of the Alumni Relations Office in recent years, analyzed some of the existing problems in alumni connections, and pointed out that alumni are a valuable resource for developing their alma mater’s future. Alumni relations is a systematic project that requires an improved system, information transparency and platform construction in order to better mobilize the enthusiasm of relevant personnel. At the same time, he put forward his own views on connecting educational resources with EDP, and the strategic cooperation agreement signed between Guangzhou Zhongbo Education Co., Ltd. and the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology. He also discussed with all attendees the establishment of a high-end sharing platform for learning, hosting professional forums and training lectures, the utilization of alumni resources.
Finally, all attendees agreed that the two parties should work together to create a new mode of talent training in order to achieve USST’s development goal of being “a world-class university with distinctive characteristics”.
The entire meeting ended in a lively and friendly atmosphere.
